Enquire about lessons

Thinking about starting music or art lessons? We'd love to hear from you. Extexttra offers welcoming, structured instruction for children and adults across Canada — from first-time beginners picking up an instrument or a paintbrush for the very first time, to returning students who want to rebuild their skills with a clear plan. Whether you're a parent looking for a nurturing environment for your child, or an adult finally making time for something you've always wanted to try, reaching out is the easiest first step. When you get in touch, it helps us to know a few things so we can point you toward the right class and teacher. Tell us who the lessons are for (a child, yourself, or the whole family), the instrument or art medium you're curious about, and roughly what you'd like to achieve — whether that's playing songs for fun, preparing for an exam or recital, building confidence, or simply exploring something creative. If you're not sure where to begin, that's completely fine; many of our new students aren't, and part of what we do is help you decide. Our guide "How to choose your first instrument" and "Getting started with art lessons" are good reads before you reach out. We offer both private lessons and group classes, and families often ask which is the better fit. Private lessons give focused, one-on-one attention and move at your pace; group classes are social, motivating and often more affordable, and they're wonderful for children who thrive alongside others. If you're weighing the two, our article "Group classes vs private lessons: which is right?" walks through the trade-offs in plain language. When you contact us, mention your preference or your questions and we'll talk it through honestly. Parents are always welcome to ask about scheduling, lesson length, how we keep younger learners engaged, and what practice looks like at home. Our "Music lessons for children: a parent's guide" covers much of this, and we're happy to answer anything it doesn't. Adult beginners can ask about flexible timing and a judgement-free pace — our "Learning music as an adult beginner" guide is written especially for you. And if you have your sights set on performing, ask us about our recital preparation and the ideas in "Preparing for a recital with confidence." To enquire about lessons, send us a message with your details and questions, and a member of our team will get back to you to discuss availability, the right level, and next steps. There's no pressure and no obligation — just a friendly conversation to help you or your child find the right fit. We look forward to helping you start your musical or artistic journey.
